Shit happens

Shit happens, or "unexpected events can happen". The important thing is to get over them.

On friday morning I went to work as I usually do. At a certain point, the path leaves the sprawling traffic of Borgomanero and goes towards less busy roads, in search of that inner myself that shows how lonely you are to pedal and not wedged between cars as piece of Tetris that does not want to get stuck, in any way you turn it.

I put on the "turn signal", I try to turn left, other cars are coming in the opposite direction. I hope that they slow down a little, since they are all standing in line. The one that comes up to me does not slow down much and then I cut the stop and, thoughtlessly, step on the white reflecting strips that have probably the effect of soap. As it is, as it is not, I get off a little with the front wheel and then  finally the rear wheel betrays me. I'm on the ground.

A half second to achieve, I try to stand up and see the damage. I see the mirror on the floor and, after a while, I feel a burning sensation on my forearm and on my side. But cold and adrenaline does not le me see the real situation. Anyway I try to reach my office, where I will try to  realise the  real damage.

Thanks probably to low speed (about 18-20 km / h) and the fact of being so low from the asphalt I had no massive wounds. Abrasion of the forearm and the outer part of the left gluteus. Excoriations due more to heating than to rubbing. Even the jeans (which I prefer to wear shorts in the winter version, even in the long version) have done their job, so much so that they are absolutely not marked while the windbreaker jacket has holes but stopped at the jacket itself. Jacket promptly repaired the same day by the mother-in-law.

All OK, and infact after two days I could go out on a bike ride with Serafino for a beautiful 100 km ride.
If I had done it in a racing bike (and I did it a couple of years ago, on a roundabout, always going to work) I would have a bruise, plus bruises. Because an thing is falling from 50 cm, an other by 1 meter.

I recommend to everyone a special cream for these events: the "Trofodermin" that has healed the wound in a flash.

Bravo, la Suocera va scritta in maiuscolo! ;-)
